This was an attempt to identify a separation below the Rayleigh limit of my 150mm refractor. Seeing: Pickering 6, good.
x200: Slight elongation along a North-South axis.
x300: Definite elongation in the direction described.
x600: Large, turbulent artifact, affected so by the seeing, but I had the impression of two pinpoints in the glare of the turbulence, very occasional, and not enough to be sure of the binary nature of the star.
x800: Absolutely unmistakeable! Two definite pinpoints within the turbulent artifact. Spurious disks just barely touching, split by a line somewhat darker than its surroundings.
